The Intention:
Mindbender combines live electronic dance music and painting with new media and progressive cultural ideas. The result is an integrated sense of purpose, meaning, belonging and celebration. The intention of Mindbender is to create a container to reconnect with our global tribe, and to witness larger patterns of positive change during this epoch of stress and transformation. We seek to bridge the personal isolation which contributes to the apathy, political helplessness and tuning-out that many suffer from today. We continue to create inspiring cultural events that open the psyche to broader philosophical and psychological views, while celebrating with a community that shares this desire.

Personal empowerment is created when we experience a sense of belonging and participation within archetypal rituals involving costumes, dance, storytelling and visual art. Once internalized, this sense of empowerment provides the energy to move forward, connecting kindred spirits. This personal empowerment is the necessary first step which makes political and cultural activism possible and enjoyable.

Artists, musicians and presenters will be sharing their message and how it reflects an underlying order and interconnectivity found everywhere in people…a global unified tribe.

Our desire is to be an alternative culture node radiating to various venues and local communities throughout the United States. We are also formulating plans to host several events throughout the United States in the future.

Josh Shore from Guerrilla News Network ( ) and Illuminated (

After creating and producing shows for MTV, Show time, USA Network and MuchMusic/Fuse in New York City, Josh Shore started the GNN (Guerrilla News Network) with Stephen Marshall (creator of the critically-acclaimed Channel Zero video magazine) in January of 2000, as an antidote to the corporatization of the mainstream news media. Designed to be an uncensored news network and independent production boutique, GNN built a leading online news platform that has attracted a committed global audience through the dissemination of alternative news perspectives and the production of Sundance award-winning documentary films and beat-driven NewsVideos. Guerrilla NewsVideos tell under-reported stories in the language of the music video, leveraging the popularity and social conscience of musical artists like the Beastie Boys, Eminem, Peter Gabriel, Dead Prez and many others, to make news appetizing to the global youth market. Alarmingly informative and implicitly viral, these videos have been deployed online since 2000 and harness the functional utility of the web to inform mass audiences of critical information that ultimately affects their world view and subsequent buying behavior. Most recently, Josh teamed up with long time GNN collaborator Anson Phong ( and started production on a new anime series called Illuminated, all about a little girl on the road to enlightenment. Developed to be deployed online and on mobile platforms before being re-released theatrically in 3D, Illuminated has also spawned a live DJ/VJ performance element called The Illuminated Experience, which brings the spirit of the series into clubs and festivals around the world, with stunning animation from the show, digital sacred geometry, revelatory documentary footage and live digital painting by Illuminated lead concept artist, Android Jones.

Rod Mann and Zachary Jasper Miller from Entheogen TV (
Zachary Jasper-Miller will open the event with an invitation and portal through which to participate with the sacred interface between psyche and the word. Rod Mann will present a trailer for his latest film, Eschatology and his interactive piece DDA ( Eschatology (“the end of times”) is a documentary feature film which will be released adjunct with a software/online platform in the fall of 2008. The software program offers a solution to the dismembered psyche in the postmodern world by providing a user-friendly interface for developing a daily practice of intention, meditation, compassion, gratefulness, and action. Eschatology - We find ourselves deeply embedded in the matrix of the eschaton. Moving into a spagyric planetary death/rebirth initiation, we are surrounded by representations of this deep archetypal transformative process. Eschatology launches at the departure of Entheogenesis, gaining more depth perception in our peering into myth, initiation, and rites of passage through corridors of time. The interplay of these archaic techniques to contemporary models ushers in a revised vision of the human brain- calling upon mind/brain research, insights into psychopathological traits of reductionist Cartesian automatons, autoprojective tendencies residual in the topographical rifts and canyons of the collective psyche, examination of the salvation and villain motifs, and ushers in a shamanic dismemberment. We are at a threshold in which the human species is called to reinvent itself at a fundamental level.

We can choose to participate with the psychological Eschaton by calling forth the end of our current pathological paradigm and moving into a life-sustaining way of being in the world, or we can participate with death by remaining steadfast in our ways and dying along with the rest of life within a collapsing biosphere. It is through the participation with novelty and art, within our collective psyche, that film can effect the evolution of consciousness, within the crucibles of the internet, the technosphere, and the noosphere, for the language of the unconscious, of the dream world, of the archetypal dimension of existence, is imagery.

This is the Eschaton – the end time. We are at the threshold. Which path will we choose?

A bar will be ongoing throughout the event. There will be a catered dinner offered prior to the main event which will provide a round-table setting for participants to interact and engage with one another as well as our presenters. The event will begin with presentations and discussion, followed by music and VJ art. The gallery will be available throughout the evening, as well as a photo shoot area and informational displays.

Daniel Pinchbeck, author of Breaking Open the Head and 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl ( and Reality Sandwich ( Sandwich is a web magazine for this time of intense transformation. Our subjects run the gamut from sustainability to shamanism, alternate realities to alternative energy, remixing media to re-imagining community, holistic healing techniques to the promise and perils of new technologies. We hope to spark debate and engagement by offering a forum for voices ranging from the ecologically pragmatic to the wildly visionary (which, to our delight, sometimes turn out to be the one and the same). Counteracting the doom-and-gloom of the daily news, Reality Sandwich is a platform for voices conveying a different vision of the transformations we face. Our goal is to inspire psychic evolution and a kind of earth alchemy."
