This is the first net-zero energy compound in the U.S and somehow this is in my hometown of Issaquah, Washington.  I heard the project manager, Brad Liljequist, on Seattle's NPR station KUOW (listen to the conversation here). Very impressive, visionary work, from what I can tell. Mr. Liljequist has a history of working on organic farms and sustainable community development.  He was quick to assert that green building is "the lowest fruit on the branch" in terms of changing our industries toward more sustainable ends, considering that 35-40% of CO2 emissions come from buildings and--his assertion--that green building isn't really that complicated or expensive.
